Running and reaching my goal.

Have you ever had a goal that you were so desperate to achieve but thought it near impossible? Well last week I did it!! I achieved the near impossible, which I guess means it was possible!!
When I was younger (in primary school) I loved to run. I would run with my dad in preparation for the school cross country race, then for the zone, regional and then state cross country races!! It was the pinnacle of my running career. I was a force not to be reckoned with. Dad would teach me on our runs how to breathe, how to pace myself and also how to enjoy running.
But then I went to high school……….
Running wasn’t cool then, in fact, any kind of sweaty activity was a big no no. So I gave it up. Until last year!!
One day (I think it was in november) I woke up and decided I wanted to be a runner. It was hard, I couldn’t run more than 100 m’s without feeling like I was going to die!! But I kept going.
My goal was to run the Gold Coast Marathon 10km’s.

I am a finisher!
And I did it!! I don’t care if no one else was proud of me, I was proud of me! I set a goal and achieved it. What was really nice about it was that my running coach, my dad, from all those years ago, ran the race as well. Of course he finished before me but it was so nice to see him waving to me at the finish line. My children also came to cheer me on.. To see those faces about 30 m’s before I finished was nearly the end of me. They were screaming ‘go mum go’ and were holding up posters to cheer me on. They gave me the motivation throughout the whole race. I kept thinking of their little faces at the end and the example I was setting so that they could know they can do anything they set their minds to.

I’ve realised that nothing is impossible. Set a goal, work towards it and you will achieve.

A Blog!!

Anyone who knows me knows that I have wanted to start a blog forever, like FOREVER!! But life gets crazy……. kids need looking after (who would have thought), food needs to be made, homework done (theirs and mine!) and of course those all important DIY attempts need to be finished!! So it just kept being put on the back burner.
BUT NOT ANY LONGER!!
I took the first step and came up with a name (a very appropriate one at this stage in my life!) and started my blogging journey. So here’s to hoping I can keep it up and not crumble under the pressure!
